May 2011
Isabelle was given a lamb for her birthday at the beginning of April — it was a triplet which needed hand rearing. The idea was that she got the cute bit and the bottle feeding, then when it got bigger we'd send it back and perhaps enjoy it one Sunday with new potatoes and a bit of mint sauce. Well....that was the idea. Now 4 weeks later "Baa Baa" has become part of the family and she wants to keep him "forever".....which would be ok apart from the fact that a) he "baa's" in his paddock continually until we let him out; b) when we let him out he follows her around everywhere; c) we can't seem to teach him that the kitchen is out of bounds; and d) he's been neutered which makes him pretty useless on all counts. The only good thing is that she's decided to do "sheep agility" with him over the show jumps on the front field so they're both keeping really fit!
On an entirely different note, I'm off to the Highfields Gala event this weekend with the Overwater Marina stand — it's in the gardens of Highfields, which is an amazing timber framed house on the outskirts of Audlem. It sounds excellent, with events on both days, music in the open air, ferret racing (?) and afternoon teas.......any volunteers for the maybole dancing???

Stay say this winter and check your Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Smoke alarms — it could save your life! Carbon Monoxide is a silent killer — it has no odour. DO make sure your boat has a CO alarm, DO check the batteries, DO respond if it goes off — open the windows and doors and get out of the boat. DON'T leave ashes from your fire inside the boat — even as they cool they can be giving off...
