Reception Garden

I've just come to realise that I clearly don't have a creative bone in my body — I'm definitely functional. We've been messing about with an area of garden by the marina reception pretty much since we moved in to the building and have never got it right. It started off as a shrubbery (the plants all drowned in the winter time) and a flower bed (then they all droughted in the summer time), then a half hearted Zen garden of pebbles, closely followed up with stone narrowboat planters. All the while it's looked pretty dull, and it's really bugged me that I've had no idea what to do with it. Now, before my very eyes it's turning into a little gem of a garden created by Dave's lovely wife Sue who clearly sees things very differently to me and who is very definitely green fingered! Every time I come to work another interesting plant or pot or lantern has arrived and it's certainly created quite a talking point. That said I'm pretty pleased with our latest landscaping purchase — 2 beautiful handmade oak benches for Richard's path. Angus's dad, Richard always wanted us to put in a path up over the hill between Campion and Bluebell. When we finally got around to it he had a maiden voyage up over it in his electric wheelchair. He loved the view from the top and it seemed a fitting tribute to him to put a couple of benches up there for everyone else to enjoy it too!
