The Overwater Bridge

Happy New year! I can't believe another year has passed so quickly. It's certainly been a busy one at the marina and for our family in general. There have been some sad times with the loss of Christine Woolford, a lovely lady who always gave me a hug. But also some positives — I've been cancer free for the whole year (holding my breath on that one but it's still worth celebrating!), our staff are all in good health and the kids have survived another Christmas of my terrible cooking!! As you're reading this daughter No. 2 is celebrating her birthday — she was the last baby to be born in Leighton Hospital on New Year's Day that year. For years we've been waiting for Big Ben to strike the hour on New Year's eve and telling her the fireworks on the telly were especially for her! Looking forwards we've been invited to the London Boat in the middle of January for the Marina of the Year Awards — they won't tell us if we've won anything yet but we're all keeping our fingers crossed!! We have the Audlem music festival to look forwards to in May, Party on the Park in July and our very own RNLI festival in September — so it looks like it's going to be a busy year. I'm most excited about the projects we have in mind for the marina — not least the start of our internal road improvements and other bits and pieces including a new footpath and a few more lights — somehow getting the marina knocked into shape always seems more interesting than anything else and when we can improve something it really feels like a great personal achievement. It also feels great to be able to wish you all a very Happy New Year and I hope that the year ahead brings health, wealth and happiness in bucket loads!
