I'm generating

They're on! We're generating! It's taken me 5 years but finally I've managed to talk the rest of the family into putting solar photovoltaic panels on the workshop roof. It's so exciting to be generating electric from a completely renewable source. Deep down I've always had a little niggle of a worry as to what will happen in the future — the if or when "the lights go out". People have been talking about moving to a less carbon dependant society for ages and this now feels like a little step in the right direction. And better still — next time we have a power cut I can pop over to the marina and still boil a kettle for a nice cup of tea.....unless of course it's dark. Which has left me pondering other ways of generating electric........attaching the children to a treadmill (slightly cruel and probably not allowed), fast growing willow for a biomass boiler (hmmm, just how much of the waters edge could I fill with that...?), putting dynamos on our office chair wheels (small scale and Sam would probably set fire to himself and there has GOT to be something we can do with goose poo!!!!!

The team nicknamed "Peeky's Blinders" were in their bespoke mini...
