funeral, death, undertaker

It's quite hard to sit and write this. We're a very sad family this week. Angus's father, our beloved Richard died last week. He has been very poorly, suffering from motor neurone disease, and even though you know it's going to happen at some point fairly soon nothing really can prepare you for such a loss. Richard was an amazing person. He was a true gentleman, very kind, with a huge degree of integrity. At the age of 70 he backed our crazy idea of digging a huge hole in the thirty acre field and filling it with boats. Not just that but he was there at the coal face at many of our open days, most of which seemed to feature cold winds and driving rain and lots and lots of mud! And, although he was a very private, quiet person, he truely enjoyed meeting all the visitors and sharing our vision for what the marina was going to become. His favourite spot on the marina was up on the little hill behind Bluebell — right where our new path is. He was immensely proud of Overwater, almost as proud as we are of him. We are very proud to say they made it! — our engineering team from Overwater Marina, lead by Simon Peek, workshop manager have recently been paddling for pounds as they completed a mammoth 10 mile paddle from the marina, near Audlem, to Nantwich basin and back to raise funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute. The team nicknamed "Peeky's Blinders" were in their bespoke mini...
