September catch up

Apologies — I've just realised it's been almost a month since I last wrote a blog — and the scary thing is I have no idea where the time has gone to! So now I need to summarise the last month in one short paragraph. Right — here goes: the bank manager visited for his annual walk round (he was happy); the VAT man called in (I think he was happy); we've been busy scheduling all our winter works for the workshop (Alan's happy); I went to a really interesting Ecosmarter workshop (made me happy); and it's rained (A LOT!) Coole Lane was particularly exciting last week when it flooded and cut off the marina from both Nantwich and Audlem — I've never known it be that bad — even the Marina drive was only passable with the Audlem Lass! Thankfully on the road it all seemed to drain away (or be pumped away) quite quickly, but the Weaver valley was flooded for a few days — makes you realise the power of water when you see the river in flood, and it becomes easier to understand how difficult a job it is to keep the water in check through some of the older embankments on the canal system (or not, as in the case of the major breach on the T+M last week!)

We are very proud to say they made it! — our engineering team from Overwater Marina, lead by Simon Peek, workshop manager have recently been paddling for pounds as they completed a mammoth 10 mile paddle from the marina, near Audlem, to Nantwich basin and back to raise funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.
