On Thursday 20 September, Alex and Anthony Davis attended a glittering awards ceremony at the new Salford City Stadium in Manchester where the UK Heart Safe Awards 2012 were being held.
Overwater Marina won the Tourism & Leisure Business of the Year Award, which was in recognition of their commitment to the safety of moorers and visitors to Overwater Marina.
Recently the North West Ambulance Service located an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) at the marina and all the staff have been trained in its use.
Last year Anthony became a qualified RLSS Lifeguard to learn water rescue techniques and Alexandra, as well as being a highly qualified safety diver, is an HSE/RYA First Aid Trainer/Assessor and has made sure the marina is committed to safety and having the best first-aid provisions.
Luckily Audlem has an excellent First Responder Team who are on site in minutes for emergencies.
UK Heart Safe works with Hands on Hearts, a charity set up with the aim of putting an AED into every school in the country to prevent the needless deaths of children at school.
Other companies who won awards on the night for promoting safety at work were Airbus UK and Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
Overwater Marina is really proud to be associated with such a good cause and overwhelmed to be included with such big companies.
