Apple Crumble

I'm surrounded by apples. Everywhere I look there are cooking apples. It's driving me nuts (which could be a welcome change to apples!) It happens every Autumn time – Angus and the children get carried away picking apples in the orchard and, after a couple of hours of frenzied picking, we end up with box after box of apples. I then spend hours and hours peeling, stewing and baking and we then spend weeks eating apple crumble, apple pie, baked apples, stewed apples, apple sponge............ This year things are looking up. Both Anna and Isabelle have developed a desire to bake, so now all I have to do is stew – Anna's crumble is tremendous and Isabelle is fantastic at making sponge – only snag is by the time we get through them all we're going to be about 20 stone each!! I've also found a good outlet for the apples – the first box is out in the Marina Reception – they're free to a good home and the take up is looking good. At this rate I reckon I can get through at least a couple of boxes and Angus will never know!!!
