A busman's holiday

It's been a few days since my last post – partly because we sneaked away for a weekend with the children before things get really busy. We had a lovely time even if it was something of a busman's holiday – we ended up looking round another marina and then took the children to meet Santa on a canal boat trip. The children were enthralled but I couldn't help noticing the look on Isabelle's face as we started to "talk canals" and Santa turned out to be a font of all knowledge on the history of the Cotswold Canals.

On site at the end of last week we were still undertaking our stilling test and it became very foggy. So much so when I was strolling around the site later on Friday I was rather alarmed to see what I thought might be a canal "boggot" stumbling towards me......out of the mists the creature came, a shapeless form of ectoplasm......then as it drew closer I realised it was just my project manager Mark, looking a bit pale after a nasty bout of man flu and grumbling about wet clay....
