Derbyshire Holidays

It feels like it's ages since I last wrote a blog – we've been away in Derbyshire for a week with the children. Funny climate Derbyshire......the rest of the country can be bathed in hot sunshine and Derbyshire seems to remain consistently cooler, cloudier and just that bit wetter.  I should have been suspicious when Angus remarked on how much greener it looked!  That said, it is breathtakingly beautiful and very pleasant.  The children had a great time – the holiday cottages we stayed in had an indoor swimming pool (just a bit cleaner to swim in than the marina!!) and we were a stone's throw from Carsington Reservoir which has a brilliant visitor centre and play area.  It's funny how on holiday you tend to discover new things about each other – this time we discovered that Anna (the 6 year old blonde) is an adrenalin junkie – she made us go on the rollercoaster at Gulliver's kingdom 3 times.  I really don't like rollercoasters but I couldn't wimp out in front of a 6 year old so I just kept my eyes shut, but even I put my foot down when it came to the Pirate Ship – needless to say Angus reckons I owe him big time for that one..........
