The first ducklings

Great news! I spotted some of the first ducklings on the way home this week – there are nine of them on the old railway cutting right next to the marina and also three more on the marina itself. It seems such a late season this year – this time last year spring had sprung quite some time ago but this year the cold wet weather seems to be holding everything back. Angus is chomping at the bit to do his silaging but everywhere is just too wet – he's wandering around muttering "just three dry days...just three dry days...." I'm seriously considering our options including (non) rain dances, offerings to the gods and ritual sacrifices (OK well maybe not that last one) to improve his mood. On the boat front, despite the cold wet weather, we've been really busy and the choice of remaining moorings is getting pretty slim. It's also lovely to see so many boats moving around and now the Coffee Lounge is open every day except Mondays there's a real buzz about the place. Even better news is that on Wednesday Anna had her plaster removed and the specialist has declared her fit and well – the bone has healed really well despite being quite a bad break. She's on crutches for at least another week but can start to put some weight on it – a big relief all round!
