Hello my love

Sad week this week. One of our moorers, John Wood, who was also a family friend, sadly passed away on Friday morning. It was something of a shock and the office was a very subdued place for the rest of the day. John has been with us since we opened and loved to do a bit of gardening here and there, planting climbing plants up the bin compounds and keeping our flower beds in order. He loved plants and wildlife and used to get up early to sit on the front of his boat and watch the world wake up. More recently he has helped us to create a garden area down near the caravan site and planted the butterfly loving plants and fruit trees we have there. I shall ever remember him for many things, watching him stride past on the towpath on his way into Audlem, getting my mother quite tipsy on red wine once Christmas Eve after Carol Singing around the marina, his habit of quietly slipping in and out of the office and always being here at the right time for coffee and his wonderful sense of humour. His reply to my good morning or good afternoon was always "Hello my love, " which always made me smile and I shall miss him dearly.
