Loads of things to report

Lots of things have been happening over the last week or so at the marina, which is the only good excuse I have for not providing an update on the blog sooner. There seem to be more and more boats appearing daily and I love the vibrancy this is creating on the site. My favourite time of day is when I walk or cycle down from the farm in the morning and stop at the top of the bridge to admire the view (and, if truth be told, to get my breath back – because lets face it, it's quite steep to pedal up, and I only have short legs!) Which brings me on to a recent discussion I had with Phil the Fence (our fencing contractor).

Phil happened to mention that he quite enjoyed going out on his bike to get fit and I found myself announcing that I also liked cycling and in fact I rather fancied cycling Wainwright's famous Coast to Coast route – at which point I found myself agreeing that we would go for it at the end of the summer next year with whoever else we could talk into having a go and to make it worthwhile would do it for charity. It sounded like a good idea at the time until I purchased the official guide book and realised that crossing the Lake District by bike involves an awful lot of slopes far steeper than our canal bridge! This leaves me with only two options, number one is try to get out of it as gracefully as possible, and number two – start cycling up the canal bridge, and as many others I can find, a lot faster and a lot more often – what a choice – so what can I say – other than – anyone know any more canal bridges round here???
