Ten little ducks

Ten little ducks went paddling one day, over the hills and far away, mother duck called "quack, quack, quack" and only 9 little ducks came back......

Nature can be so cruel! I and a number of moorers have been following the day to day lives of our ducklings and goslings over the past couple of weeks. The goslings are doing well – not least because they never seem to go out without a protective squad of geese to keep them safe.

The ducklings haven't been quite so lucky and I have noticed the odd one or two going missing. Now this shouldn't really bother me – it is nature after all, and lets face it I am rather partial to crispy aromatic duck, so I shouldn't be too hypocritical, but they are the first of our marina ducklings, so every one which goes missing makes me just a liitle bit sad!
