I've been getting shouted at by Simon our workshop manger for not writing anything lately. It's not that there's been nothing going on – rather that it's been too hectic to sit down and login. The cruising season has finally come to a well earned rest but somehow we continue to be busy in the marina office. We always have so many plans of what to do in the winter "when it goes quiet", then only ever seem to get around to half of them. This year Colin and I have a little project on to create some information boards for the marina, and for our "Railway Trail", which runs down the farm track alongside the marina. The water filled lagoons next to the farm track used to accommodate the train line running from Nantwich to Market Drayton. I went to the Audlem History Society talk the other night for a presentation about Audlem Station – the Scout and Guide Hall was packed out! I never knew we had so many train buffs in the village – every man, woman and child was there, including a number of moorers. The station is no longer there, but see if you can spot where the track once went over the Whitchurch Road as you go down the bank out of the village.
