Waking up

I can't believe it's March already! Where has the start of the year gone to?? We've had a traumatic start to the year at home – the dairy industry is having the worst time ever (or at least since the 1930's) and our dairy herd has become one of the casualties – we just can't produce milk at such a massive loss – so have had to take the very difficult and painful decision to sell the herd. I can't say any more about it at the moment as it's just too upsetting. The cows went at the beginning of February and its like the heart has been wrenched out of the farm. That said, spring is now showing signs of arriving and we've plans to rear young cattle for someone so we are also starting to feel much better. I was driving down the marina drive the other day and spotted the first bits of hedge going green – I can't wait to see what it looks like this year – I'm sure it's going to be magnificent (is that a sign of my age that I'm getting excited about a hedge!!??)
