I had to pop into Nantwich the other day to pick up a few things. It was bitterly cold and as usual I was running late and rushing around a bit. When I came back to the car I opened the boot and I am convinced I saw something small dart across the back of the boot. I gingerly picked at the stack of kid's rubbish which is usually slung in the back and again I was sure I saw a movement! I did what one can only do in those kind of moments....I shut the boot quick, shook my head, and drove off. The next stop was the Tesco Metro, for a loaf of bread – being a country girl, I took precautions....I put the bread on the front seat – no mouse in the boot was going to pinch my loaf! By the time I got to Cheshire Workwear to pick up some new staff jackets I was starting to imagine noises in the back and started wondering if I was likely to crash the car if it ran up my trouser leg (strange thought – but it was preferable to the thought of it taking a running leap from the head rest onto my lap...) The lads in Cheshire Workwear certainly looked a bit puzzled when I asked them if they were scared of mice and after explaining my problem gallantly took a management decision and called in reinforcements from the back to check out my car...so armed with a SHOVEL, the lad started to root around in my boot.....needless to say we couldn't find a thing, which can only mean one of two things....that I was imagining it, or that its now found a great hiding place and it's still IN MY CAR!!!! By the time I got home it could have gone either way, until eventually I unloaded the car and convinced myself I needed to get my eyes tested....then I saw Angus later who opened the conversation with "by the way a funny thing happened when I opened the boot yesterday........" Anyone got a mouse trap??
