What a view

While I'm writing this I'm sitting in the office looking out of my window – it's a lovely view, looking right down the marina – I chose this view before the building was built – I hopped onto the concrete foundation slab with a can of red spray paint and marked out where I wanted my desk and window. I always maintained it's the best view in the marina, but now I'm not so sure – I'm now torn between the view from our bridge and possibly the view from our new holiday show lodge – I have to confess that sitting on the decking watching the world go by has definitely been one of my favourite spots this summer. The end of summer was signalled rather eloquently by our RNLI Festival weekend. Being Britain it had to rain on at least one of the days and Saturday was a mixture of sunshine and torrential downpours – of course being British, we all just carried on and had a fantastic Saturday night dancing away to the Abba revival band who were brilliant. My night was made complete by the fact the RNLI bar was stocking gin and tonic and even had ice and a slice! The Sunday was dry and full of things to do and see – Steve Leonard, our celebrity vet, once again hosted a superb dog show, we had a display of falconry, the marquee was full of stalls and displays and the donkey derby chariot racing was hilarious. We all felt rather flat on the Monday morning but it was rather nice to get the marina back to its normal peaceful self. So now I'm sitting here thinking about what we've been doing for the rest of the month and as I glance up to look out of my window, on a grey misty day, there's a boat sitting on the fuel bay, another gliding in through the entrance and 3 ducks floating gently on the flat calm water and it occurs to me that choosing this spot for my desk was a good call and why would I ever want to be anywhere else!
